Birch Leaves (Betulae Folium)
Parts used: Leaves
Uses: Acts as a diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and pain reliever. Good for joint pain and urinary tract infections. Black Elder Flowers (Sambuci Flos)
Parts used: Flowers, Fruits
Uses: Laxative, antispasmodic, diuretic, diaphoretic, emollient. Used in the treatment of colds and nasal catarrh, or alone as a gargle in throat infections.
Also of value with other remedies in constipation, hemorrhoids, rheumatism, bronchitis and cystitis.
Buckthorn Bark (Frangulae Cortex)
Parts used: bark
Uses: laxative, diuretic, treatment of chronic constipation.
Fennel Fruit (Foeniculi Fructus)
Parts used: Fruits
Uses: Carminate-Spasmolyticum, Expectorant.
Relieves abdominal pain, colon disorders, gas, and gastrointestinal tract spasms. Promotes the functioning of the kidneys, liver, and spleen, and also clears the lungs. Useful for acid stomach.
Used as an eyewash.
Good after chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment for cancer.
Licorice Root (Liquiritae Radix)
Parts used: Roots.
Comments: Corrigent, Expectorant, for ulcer.
Caution: Should not be used during pregnancy, nor by person with diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, severe menstrual problems, or a history of stroke.
Parsley Root (Petroselini Radix)
Parts used: Roots
Uses: Diureticum.
It relieves gas, stimulates normal activity of the digestive system. Helps bladder, kidney, liver, lung, stomach, and thyroid function. Good for obesity, bed-wetting, fluid retention, gas halitosis, high blood pressure, indigestion, kidney disease, and prostate disorders.
Sea-Weed (Fucus Vesiculosus)
Parts used: Weed
Uses: Anti-obesic, anti-hypothyroid, metabolic.
Senna (Sennae Folium)
Parts used: Leaves
Uses: Laxative, for treating constipation
Contra-indications: intestinal obstruction and stenosis, inflammatory colon disease (Crohn´s disease), appendicitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin.
Should not be used by children under 10 years of age, by pregnant and nursing women as there are insufficient data on it.
