Agrimony herb (Agrimoniae Herba)
Parts used: Stems
Uses: Mild astringent in stomach and bowels catarrh, cholagogue, stomachic, antiphlogistic.
Used for acute sore throats, chronic catarrh, children's diarrhea, cystitis. Used in liver and gallbladder disorders. Boldo Leaves (Boldo Folium)
Parts Used: Leaves
Uses: Acts as a cholagogue, choleretic, diuretic, antibiotic, liver tonic, and anti-inflammatory, mild laxative. Aids in the excretion of uric acid and stimulates digestion.
Buckthorn (Frangulae Cortex)
Parts used: Bark
Actions and uses: purgative, diuretic, treatment of chronic constipation.
Chamomile (Chamomillae Flos)
Parts used: Flowers
Uses: Reduces inflammation, stimulates the appetite, and aids digestion and sleep. Acts as a diuretic and nerve tonic. Helpful for colitis, diverticulosis, fever, headaches, and pain. Good for menstrual cramps. A traditional remedy for stress and anxiety, indigestion, and insomnia. Useful as a mouthwash for minor mouth and gum infections.
Caution: Should not be used daily for long periods of time, as this may lead to ragweed allergy. Should not be used with sedatives or alcohol.
Dandalion Radix (Taraxaci Radix)
Parts Used: roots, stems
Uses: Cleanses the blood and liver, and increases bile production. Reduces serum cholesterol and uric acid levels. Improves functioning of the kidneys, pancreas, spleen, and stomach. Acts as a diuretic. Relieves menopausal symptoms. Useful for abscesses, anemia, boils, cirrhosis of the liver, constipation, fluid retention, hepatitis, jaundice, and rheumatism.
Watery extract shows antitumour activity caused by present polysacharides.
Caution: Should not be combined with prescription diuretics. Not recommended for people with gallstones or biliary tract obstruction
Peppermint (Menthae Piperitae Herba)
Parts used: Flowering tops, Stems, Leaves.
Uses: Increases stomach acidity, aiding digestion. Slightly anesthetizes mucous membranes and the gastrointestinal tract. Useful for chills, colic, diarrhea, headache, heart trouble, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, poor appetite, rheumatism, and spasms.
Caution: May interfere with iron absorption. Should not be used by nursing mothers.
White Horehound Herb (Marrubii Herba)
Parts used: Stems
Uses: Promotes bile flow and stimulates the appetite, in respiratory disorders(bronchitis and coughs). Considered of benefit in disorders of the gall bladder and stomach (stomach tonic). Possesses some weak sedative action , suitable for use in conjunction with other herbs in nervous tachycardia.
